Securing Your Motorcycle When Commuting to Work

Taking your motorcycle to work lets you become one with the road and save money on gas. It’s pretty efficient and becoming popular in the Pooler, GA area. If you’re commuting to work on your bike regularly, consider these tips to keep your bike safe and secure.

1. Invest in a Lock

While many bikers already have a lock on their bike while working, some who park in a gated area or parking garage may not need one. Having that lock on your bike is always good practice, even if you think the area is secure.

2. Add a Cover to Your Bike

Adding a cover and removing it may seem labor-intensive and unnecessary, but it will help deter your bike from being stolen while at work. When your bike has a cover on it, it takes a few minutes to get it off efficiently and get going. This can deter thieves from stealing your bike and moving on to another target.

3. Add an Alarm

Not all bikes have an alarm, but you can add one that will alert you by sound and even by app notification if someone attempts to start your bike while it’s locked. This alarm will cause others to notice around the area and scare off someone attempting to take the bike. Bikes with alarms aren’t usually worth the trouble since they are looking to steal bikes that are easy to get and can be taken discreetly.

4. Be Aware of Where You Park

If your employer has a gated lot or parking garage, park your bike in those areas. It keeps them out of sight and in areas that are harder to get. While it isn’t always 100 percent, it will discourage most thieves from attempting to steal the bike.
